Nearest
beaches
The nearest sandy beach to the cottage
is Portherras Cove, reached via the coastal footpath
at Pendeen Lighthouse. Watch out for the pods of dolphins
or the resident seals and their pups swimming in the
cove. A bit further away include Whitesands bay at Sennen
cove, 3 miles of beautiful sand. Sennen is excellent
for surfing and very safe for children. St Ives has
three wonderful beaches, Porthminster, Porthmeor and
Carbis bay.
Marazion on the south coast, opposite
the famous St
Micheal's Mount, is good for sailing, waterskiing,
paragliding, jetskiiing, windsurfing, and gig rowing.
Heading back along the coast in the lands end direction
from Penzance include the Newlyn harbour(famous for
its fish industry), Mousehole famous for its literary
cat and christmas lights spectacle, Lamorna, Penberth,
Porthcurno(famous Minack
Theatre) and Porthgwarra coves. Finally you reach
the great spectacle of Land's
End. From Marazion heading eastwards towards the
lizard peninsula , Prussia cove, Perranuthoe and Praa
sands are well worth a visit. Beyond here the majestic
Helford river beckons with its deep wooded valleys falling
away to the mysterious creeks made famous by the author
Daphne Du Maurier.
